OVERVIEW
About This Programme
This modular course provides a comprehensive introduction to designing and deploying cloud-based applications using Amazon Web Services (AWS). Learners will gain practical knowledge of cloud architecture, including setting up virtual servers, configuring databases through Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), implementing storage solutions, and securing applications in the cloud environment.
The course guides participants through the full lifecycle of building a web application on AWS, from account setup to final deployment — while introducing key concepts such as message queues, cloud security, migration strategies, and cost optimisation. Emphasis is placed on applying cloud solutions to enhance business performance, operational efficiency, and IT security.
Delivered as a short course at the London School of Business and Finance (LSBF), Singapore, the programme includes structured progress assessments and continuous learner support. Upon successful completion, participants will receive an LSBF Modular Certificate / Nano Degree. While the course does not lead to a full LSBF qualification on its own, it equips learners with industry-relevant skills aligned to current cloud computing and infrastructure demands.
Hands-on AWS Training – Build and deploy real cloud applications.
Industry-Relevant Skills – Learn cloud architecture, security, and databases.
Career Boost – Earn an LSBF Modular Certificate / Nano Degree.
Practical Learning – Apply skills to real-world business scenarios.
PROGRAMME AIMS
Key Objectives
This programme provides learners with a practical overview of designing and deploying cloud-based applications using Amazon Web Services (AWS). It introduces key concepts in cloud architecture and helps learners understand how to build scalable, secure, and reliable web applications in a cloud environment.
Learners will gain hands-on knowledge of implementing application components using services such as message queues, managing cloud security, and designing application architectures. The course also guides learners through the complete process of setting up AWS for a web application—from creating an AWS account to building a final application architecture using Relational Database Services (RDS).
The programme aims to develop the knowledge, technical skills, and practical competencies required for modern software and application development in cloud environments. It is designed as a modular short course that supports learners seeking to upgrade their digital and cloud computing skills.
Throughout the course, learners receive continuous academic support and regular progress assessments to track their development. Industry-informed content ensures that the programme remains relevant to current technology and career demands.
Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive an LSBF Modular Certificate / Nano Degree.

Course Outline and OUTCOMES
What to expect
Course Outline
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to cloud computing and business analytics, covering the fundamentals of cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), deployment models, scalability, pricing structures, and global infrastructure. Learners will set up and configure a cloud environment, create and manage virtual machines, deploy web and application servers, and implement serverless solutions. The programme also covers relational (SQL) and NoSQL database management, cloud storage solutions, backup and archiving strategies, networking concepts, and domain name services (DNS) configuration.
In addition, learners will explore cloud security principles including identity and access management, the shared responsibility model, and access control policies. The course further covers monitoring and messaging services, cloud migration strategies, cost management and optimisation techniques, and performance monitoring. By the end of the programme, learners will be able to design, deploy, secure, and manage a complete cloud-based application architecture aligned with business and operational requirements.
Course Outcome
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Evaluate and design cloud computing architectures.
- Configure and manage cloud-based compute, storage, and database services.
- Implement secure cloud environments using industry best practices.
- Analyse domain, migration, and cloud deployment strategies.
- Apply monitoring and performance optimisation techniques.
- Develop cost-effective recommendations for cloud solutions.
- Deploy and manage a functional cloud-based application environment.
